Original U.S. WWII Imperial M4 Bayonet for M1 Carbine with M8A1 Updated Scabbard by B.M. Co
-
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice genuine WWII U.S. Army M4 Carbine bayonet fighting knife, with an original M8A1 Updated scabbard. Nicely marked U.S. M4 / IMPERIAL on underside of hand guard for the Imperial Knife Co., next to the U.S. Ordnance "Flaming Bomb". The blade is in very good condition, though it does appear to have been parkerized post war. No rust or other issues we can see, and the lock still works correctly. The finish on the blade shows very minor in and out wear. The edge is somewhat sharp, with a few small dents as shown. Grip, guard and pommel are all tight to the blade.
The bayonet still has the original WWII issue leather washer grip, many which were replaced when these bayonets were put back into service during the post-war period. It still has the bottom plastic spacer however the top one has been replaced by a hard resin insert for a tight fit, like many M4 Bayonets by IMPERIAL we have seen.
It comes in a nice WWII issue OD green fiber scabbard marked U.S. M8A1 / B.M. CO., also in offered in very good condition. The "A1" is stamped off to the side, so this scabbard was originally an M8, but then updated to M8A1 standards, with the changed canvas portion The original canvas was shorter, and would have not had any belt clip. There is some wear to the scabbard, and it has been repainted, but it is definitely an arsenal repaint from decades ago. The canvas and belt hanger are in very good condition, and the snap still functions, though the finish is slightly worn. The OD Green #3 color indicates WWII manufacture. The scabbard was manufactured by Beckwith Mfg Co., a division of Victory Plastics.
