Original U.S. WWII Imperial M4 Bayonet Arsenal Converted to Fighting knife with M8 Scabbard

Original Item: Only One Available. Genuine WWII U.S. Army M4 Carbine bayonet arsenal converted to fighting knife with original M8 scabbard. The M4 bayonet design was based on the M3 Fighting knife, so conversion of the M4 bayonet back to a fighting knife was relatively easily done at arsenal. The pommel locking mechanism was removed, and aluminum and brass washers attached before the tang was peened over to hold the grip tight. The cross guard was also ground down, however it still shows portions of the markings, which originally would have read: U.S. M4 IMPERIAL on the blade side of the hand guard. Very good used condition clean sharp blade with portions of the original black finish. Blade does show sharpening wear, as well as wear from the scabbard throat. Grip, guard and pommel are all tight to the blade. Leather washer grip is in good condition.
OD green fiber scabbard marked U.S. M8 B.M. Co also in offered in very good condition. A great example of an arsenal modified M4 Bayonet.
