Original U.S. WWII Helmet Set - M1917A1 Kelly Helmet & Paratrooper Liner by Westinghouse in U.S. Type Shell - 2 Items
Original Items: Only One Set of Two. This is a very nice U.S. WWII Helmet set, perfect for a starting collector! These definitely show some wear, but they have great display potential, and are available at a very economical price.
This set consists of:
- One U.S. WWII M1917A1 "Kelly" Helmet in service worn condition. These were made using WWI "Doughboy" helmets, fitted with new liners, and were used by U.S. forces early in WWII before the M1 became more widely distributed. This example has a worn and bent leather liner, with a partly torn through chin strap. Of note: with split pins retaining the chin strap loops, this is probably a British WWI made shell.
- One U.S. WWII "High Pressure" M1 Helmet liner by Westinghouse, retrofitted for paratrooper use by adding the two female snaps on the inside of the shell. The attachment rivets for the paratrooper chin strap risers were drilled out, so they were probably removed to put on another helmet. The liner is in service worn condition, and has been placed inside a U.S. WWII Style M1 helmet shell. It is non-magnetic, and has a rear seam and fixed bales, so we suspect it is a Danish M1 Helmet shell.
