Original Item: Only One Available: This a very rare fully functional (and loud) U.S. WWII Hand Crank Air Raid Siren. These covers are almost always missing, and of the few examples we have had, most were without the cover or sling, like this example.
The siren is maker marked on the reverse:

Constructed predominantly of aluminum with integral one piece carry handle and crank handle. These were originally painted OD green, however the paint does not stick to the aluminum very well as it oxidizes, so often these are missing a lot of the paint. This example still has almost all of the original paint, with just a few areas of flaking. It also still has the cover and screen to protect the rotor, items that are often missing.
These sirens were used for Air Raids and possible Gas Attacks both during combat situations and on the Home Front. This mobile handheld version is the hardest to find of any WWII siren.
