  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is an outstanding example of an AN6511-1 parachute manufactured by the Standard Parachute Corporation during World War II. The parachute is well-secured with its original rigging in the original Aviator’s kit bag. This type of parachute would have been worn by fighter pilots, not paratroopers.

The parachute itself retains the data information:

    AN6511-1 PARACHUTE
    M’F’D BY STANDARD PARACHUTE CORPORATION
    CONTRACT NO. W535-AC26569

The opposite side has a manufacture date of May 1943. The seat cushion retains its stamped information as well:

    A-N PARACHUTE SEAT CUSHION
    PART NO. 47565-1
    CONTRACT NO. W535-AC-39126
    COLE OF CALIFORNIA, INC.
DATE OF MFG. JUN 4 1943

This gives the set a manufacture date of June 4th, 1943. The rigging is in great shape and the set is contained in its original aviator’s kit bag, which is in fair shape with heavy service wear, and is stenciled on the side:

    AVIATOR’S KIT BAG
    AN 6505-1
    PROPERTY
    U.S. GOVERNMENT

There were two small weather maps at the bottom of the bag, but they are in horrible condition. This is a fantastic set, ready for further research and display!
