  • Original Items: One-of-a-kind Set. Major Lucien P. Wilkins O-256835 was second in command of the 690th artillery battalion and supervised all administration in battles. He is named in From Normandy ... to Leipzig the History of the 690th Field Artillery Battalion, 1943-1945. He joined the army and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was awarded a Bronze Star and both his medal and citation are included in this set. His citation reads:

    22 June 1945
    AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL
    By direction of the President and under the provisions of Army Regulations 600-45, Lucien P. Wilkins, Major, O 256 035, Field Artillery 690th Field Artillery Battalion, United States Army, is awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States during the period 8 July 1944 to 8 May 1945, in France, Belgium, and Germany. Major Wilkins as Executive Officer performed his duties of supervising administration, camouflage field fortifications, of moving the battalion on all moves and supervising the activities of the men in the command in a competent manner and thereby greatly enforced the reputation of the battalion. His attention to details, professional knowledge and energetic performance of duty reflects highest credit upon himself and the armed forces of United States, Entered Military service from the State of North Carolina.

    This grouping consists of his uniform Class A jacket, officer visor cap, dog tag, insignia, medal ribbons, and loads of original documents including his Bronze Star Citation.
