Original U.S. WWII Era Victory in Europe Commemorative Humidor by Granger, Egypt - Constructed of Battlefield Salvaged Brass

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic humidor of World War II commemorating the end of the war. Cigar boxes like this were made by a British military supply firm in Egypt, presumably from metal salvaged from the North African Campaign.

This is a lovely cedar lined, silver-plated brass cigar humidor. The lid is engraved with a map depicting the battlefields of Europe, and titled "V.- E. World War II Battlefields of Europe" in the lower left corner. The upper left corner has Made In Egypt by Granger. The sides of the box are engraved with the key battles and campaigns, divided by the calendar years from 1939-1945. Stamped on the bottom of the box is:

BRASS USED IN THE MANUFACTURE
OF THIS BOX WAS SALVAGED
FROM THE BATTLEFIELDS OF
WORLD WAR II

GRANGER
MADE IN
EGYPT

The silver plating is retained very well with only minor finish loss on the corners and the bottom. There is some tarnishing and verdigris present, but it only adds to the beauty! The cedar is still intact and without damage, there is even the lingering odor of old tobacco present, meaning this was used for many years.

This is an incredible example of how salvaged materials from these battlefields were repurposed!

Comes more than ready for display.
