Original U.S. WWII Era Small Bowie Knife by Kinfolks with Custom Leather Handle and Leatherbound Wood Scabbard

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice WWII Era small bowie knife, made by Kinfolks. This is typical of the type of private purchase knife many soldiers would take into the field for defense and utility. This example measures 10 ½” overall and has a Clip-point "Bowie" blade that is 6" long. This example appears to be the popular 6” bladed Kinfolks which was used widely before the switch to the M3 knife. All original components are still present and were just covered with leather.

The knife is equipped with a lovely red leather and reed braided type grip, which is in wonderful condition. The blade ricasso is correctly marked Kinfolks / U.S.A.. Blade condition shows wear and use, with some past pitting. The edge however is still quite sharp.

The knife comes complete with a leather bound wood scabbard without leather belt loop and does have a simple securing strap. The design is identical to the knife’s handle.

Ready to display!

More on Kinfolks Cutlery:
Kinfolks was incorporated in Little Valley, New York, on November 4, 1926 by three cousins: Russ Case of WR Case & Sons Cutlery, Tint Champlin of Cattaraugus Cutlery, and Dean J. Case. Construction of the factory began in 1927 while Dean recruited master cutlers. Kinfolks was formed to produce razors and fixed blade knives for both Cutleries. Dean J eventually bought the majority of Kinfolks stock.

The company was a U.S. Military contractor during WWII, producing early blade marked M3 knives. They were not a major contractor, so military issued knives with their marking are quite rare.
