Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice WWII M1 Helmet Shell which was depot refinished for use during the Vietnam War. The helmet is matched with a lovely early 1960’s Vintage Pattern 1955 Liner which appears unissued. The Mitchell Pattern helmet cover is an early Vietnam War example and is in excellent condition showing very little wear. The helmet is complete with original Vietnam War Issue Elastic Foliage Band.

This is a very nice example of a Korean War Era Issue M1 Helmet as used during the Korean War Era and into the early Vietnam Conflict. The shell looks to be a standard WWII issue, with rear seam, and swivel bales. There is a faint heat lot stamp, which we cannot see clearly due to the repainting done at the depot. The helmet shell had undergone a depot repaint and was refitted with new chinstraps, likely in the early-mid 1960s. It is fitted with a correct Vietnam war style chin strap, which uses bent metal brackets to attach to the "bales", and also has a separate T-1 connector in the buckle, designed to break if put under excessive strain, preventing injury.

The helmet is complete with an early issue, Vietnam Era, "High Pressure" liner The liner has had all of the original paint on the exterior, and shows some minor period wear The interior has clean OD7 Olive Drab HBT Webbing secured by blacked “A”-Washers, which show some slight oxidation. The sweatband is original dating to the early 1960s, and is original to the liner.

This is a lovely, complete example of a WWII produced M1 helmet shell which continued its life during the Korean War into early Vietnam. All components are in beautiful condition, which is becoming a rarity nowadays. Super clean Vietnam helmets are becoming very difficult to find!
