Original U.S. WWII Dix Bird's Head Pommel Fighting Knife with Belt Scabbard

Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a wonderful example of a hard to find WWII fighting knife in really good condition, complete with its original belt scabbard. During WWII there was a very large demand for fighting knives, particularly in the Pacific theater. Not all soldiers would normally be issued them, so the private market for fighting knives was booming.
This is a lovely service used example, marked on the ricasso by maker DIX, with a thin "stiletto" style blade, which is single-edged with a spear point false edge. It has a stacked leather grip with a red plastic washer at the bottom next to the "Bird's Head" aluminum pommel. This was one of several companies making similar knives, with the ones made by "Royal Brand" being almost identical except for markings and grind style. Condition is very good, showing overall wear and sharpening to the edge of the blade, which has changed the blade profile a bit. The maker name is a bit faded due to cleaning as well. The handle is in very good shape, with no deterioration, and the crossguard is present, though it is a bit loose due to the leather shrinking. It comes with a lovely "pancake" style belt sheath, which has a retaining loop at the top.
Overall this is a great chance to own a lovely condition Dix fighting knife with a bird's head pommel, complete with an original correct scabbard. This would be a fantastic way to fill out a World War II US military knives. Ready to display!
