This is a gorgeous 1944-Annotated map of the English Channel including both London & Paris with lines depicting previous invasions and routes taken in 1943 and 1944, with written annotations done around September 1944 near Weymouth in England routing over the channel to Cherbourg in France, then drawing a route from the landing site to Paris. The map measures roughly 23 x 30½”.
This is an extremely rare full color single side paper map of Normandy issued to the Army / Air for use during operations in the English Channel and around the time of the D-Day Normandy Invasion. The scale of the map is 1 : 1,000,000. It was published by the War Office in 1942 and heliographed the same year at O.S. The map has been folded which is standard with these sorts of WWII maps, and will frame beautifully, the folds certainly giving it character. There is some damage to all 4 corners from when it was mounted and used in the field or by officers. The bottom right corner has written
