  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a wonderful U.S. WWII "Theater Made" fighting knife, 13⅛” in length, with a 7½” blade made from an M-1905 bayonet. These knives were often made by the armorers and engineers, usually in the Pacific theater. The large capital ships needed to have skilled fabricators on board to make repairs and modifications to weapons and gear.

The handle of this knife is made from layers of stacked plastic, mostly clear, with a few red layers as decoration as well as aluminum. The pommel is made from a captured Japanese artillery fuse, which still has an intact button which pushes in and out without issue. The fuller of the blade is painted red on both sides likely meant to match the red plastic of the grip.

The original leather scabbard has an insert that appears to be the original scabbard for the M-1905 bayonet blade. The leather is nicely wrapped around the scabbard with leather rope intertwined between them. The belt loop is intact and cracking a bit. This is a very well-made scabbard!

Definitely an interesting piece of WWII Militaria. Ready to research and display!
