Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Group. This is the lovely photo album & ephemera grouping of Private First Class Sydney H. Sidebottom, who served as a Photographic Laboratory Technician in the China Burma India CBI theater with the AAF during World War II. It looks like he spent his service in India.
This grouping consists of:
- Photo Album made from “His Service Record” book, first pages show his service history including training, locations, transfers, promotions, has a fantastic record with photos of him before service and during the service in uniform with helmet, tons of great photos of him with comrades, with cameras. There are 19 photos still attached inside and 4 detached, along with tons of ephemera pasted into the album. Several pages torn away. Measures 8 ½ x 11”.
- Sidebottom’s diary with entries from August 29th, 1944 to September 27th, 1945. Great content! Small flipbook.
- AAF & CBI patches
- Original Honorable Discharge certificate showing he left for India August 30th, 1944 and returned to the US on September 22nd, 1945. Received GCM and Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 star. He was also born in Bocup, England, and was an immigrant to the US. He was born in 1906, quite old for a WWII soldier.
- Certificate for War Service, Air Forces Technical School certificate, Certificate of Naturalization, Declaration of Intention Certificate, and many more.
- Countless other bits of ephemera in the album including Western Union telegram with furlough cancelled. Also includes his original Certificate of Registry of birth from England.
- Set of Signal Corps gilt collar insignia on original card from American Emblem Co.
