  • Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Group. This is a lovely pair of Japanese booklets captured and brought back to the United States by Private August E. Cacini, Company C, Medical Battalion, 6th Infantry Division. Every American soldier wanted to bring something back at the end of the war, but there weren’t enough helmets & katanas for everyone, so many soldiers had to resort to small personal items like this.

The certificate states that Private August E. Cacini, on July 2nd, 1944, captured one Japanese Military Courtesy Manual and one Japanese Soldier’s Paybook (blank), which were inspected by Lieutenant Colonel Homer C. Blake, G.S.C., HQ, 6th Infantry Division. The certificate measures 5¼ x 7¾”.

The manual & paybook have no writing that wasn’t part of the original publication. They each measure roughly 3 x 5”.

A nice captured paper grouping, ready for further research and display.
