Item Description
Original Item: One-Of-A-Kind. This is a fantastic WWII German M31 canteen which features beautiful artwork done by an American soldier only known to us by his name, Fred Jakobs. We have not been able to locate any service information for this individual making this a wonderful opportunity for more in depth research. The canteen features artwork on an American B-24 Bomber, American Flag, Flowers and names of locations he more than likely went to during the war.
The neck of the canteen is marked with EEF 43. "EEF" is the makers abbreviation, which stands for maker Ewald Eigenbrod Aluminium-und Metallwarenfabrik, Freiling, and "43" is of course for the date 1943. Canteen makers never switched to the three letter code system during the war, and continued to use abbreviations throughout the war. The aluminum top cap is actually an Italian canteen cap but still has the sealing washer, though we cannot guarantee it still holds water.
A wonderful example of a German captured M31 canteen with artwork done by an American soldier. Comes more than ready for further research and display.
