Original U.S. WWII Captured & Engraved Italian M1935 Canteen Trench Art with Strap - Peacock & Neu Europa Ship - 1945 Dated

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a tremendous piece of WWII U.S. soldier trench art, a captured Italian M1935 Canteen which has been engraved on both sides and signed on the bottom with the initials J.E.T.. The canteen is in great shape and retains its original carrying strap and the chains on the cap.
The front of the canteen is engraved with a depiction of a ship with smoke bellowing from its funnels, with NEU EUROPA on the semi-circle surrounding it, with an anchor as the base. Two American flags fly to the right and left. The top is dated 1945.
The back of the canteen has a gorgeous and carefully engraved motif of a peacock sitting on a tree branch, with small engravings surrounding it. The bottom right of this side reads RUZKIY 1945 indicating that this may have been done by a Russian soldier while the original owner was traveling throughout Europe during the war.
The artwork on this canteen is stellar and makes for a phenomenal display. The strap is in great shape and really complements the piece. This would be great in any WWII collection. Comes ready for further research and display.
