Original Item: Only One Available. This is a M.S.A. Skullgard Type K helmet manufactured by the Mine Safety Appliances Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania prior to WWII. The Skullgard brand helmet was developed by MSA in 1930. The hat is made of Bakelite plastic with a leatherette sweatband and basic liner. It was intended for mining and work site safety. This example was painted white and decorated for the war effort to help sell WAR BONDS. Overall condition is excellent and the paint is period authentic.
