Original U.S. WWII B-29 Bomber City of Knoxville Bombardier Fuse Key Grouping - 20 Missions

Item Description

Original Items: One-of-a-kind set. This is the most extraordinary WWII personalized collection we've ever encountered. It consists of 20 Bomb keys (pins, wire seals) each individually identified with a mission number, date and location from the 20 missions this bombardier completed in his B-29 between May 4th, 1945 over NATSUMA through August 8th, 1945 over TOKYO.

Many of the tags bear comments like, "3 holes", "No fighters" and "fireball flak, hole in left wing All this soldiers twenty missions are represented and included are three photographs showing the crew in front of the B-29 CITY OF KNOXVILLE.

Each tag is printed in heavy black lettering:

REMOVE AFTER ARMING WIRE HAS BEEN INSERTED AND SAFETY CLIP ATTACHED. IF BOMB IS NOT DROPPED, REPLACE SEALING WIRE BEFORE REMOVING ARMING WIRE.

On one tag it is also printed on the reverse in red:

WARNING! DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ASSEMBLE THIS FUZE TO BOMB OR CLUSTER UNTIL BOMB OR CLUSTER IS LOADED IN AIRPLANE.

Historical point of interest, just two days before his final mission on August 6th the U.S. dropped the atom bomb on Hiroshima, and then on August 9th the U.S. dropped a second atomic bomb on on Nagasaki. Yet it took until September 2nd for the Japanese to finally surrender.

How good can this get? We known the plane, we know when and where it bombed for twenty missions, we are just lucky this guy survived!
