  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a high quality original U.S. WWII Army officer visor service cap manufactured by Society Brand Headwear. The cap is constructed from olive green wool felt with a contrasting OD green band and is fitted with brown finished leather components, including the visor, chin strap, and interior sweatband. It shows heavy service wear, giving it the well used appearance expected of an original piece of wartime uniform headgear.

The front is fitted with the correct U.S. Army eagle cap device, secured above the leather chin strap with matching buttons. Verdigris is present on the eagle, but the wool body of the cap remains in good overall condition.

The interior retains its original celluloid sweat shield, which is intact but cracked and torn. The crown is maker marked by Society Brand Headwear. The underside of the leather sweatband is stamped with the size 6 7/8 and is embossed “Airflow.” Much of the sweatband stitching is missing, consistent with the cap’s extensive service wear.

The peaked service cap, also known as a visor cap, barracks cover, or combination cap, was widely worn by military officers and other uniformed personnel. Its principal components include the crown, contrasting band, visor, chin strap, and branch or national insignia. In the United States Army, variations in insignia and construction distinguished officer headgear from enlisted examples.

This is an attractive and honestly worn example of a U.S. WWII Army officer service cap, complete with its original Society Brand Headwear markings, officer eagle, leather fittings, and visible evidence of wartime era use.
