Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of the U.S. WWII Army Air Forces B-2 Shearling Leather Billed Cap, ANB-H-1 headset, and aviator sunglasses. These caps were designed for cold weather as well as sun protection for the eyes. Period photographs show these being used by Bomber Air Crew and Gunners, as well as members of the ground crew. It used to be very common for Air and Ground crew alike to paint their name underneath the bill, and then turn it upward so that others would easily know who they were. This is a fantastic gunner’s set perfect for display.
The cap is in good condition, with great shearling wool still intact on the inside of the cap, and the correct folded up neck flap, which could be folded down but was not often done. The exterior has some wear to the leather finish, and also a few cracks. This example is marked Size 7⅜ and has a maker’s label reading:
TYPE B-2

The original headset is in great shape with the transparent covers still intact, something we never see. The original cord is retained, marked PL-354, with the connecting PL-55 cord still plugged in. The original aviator sunglasses are in fair shape. They feature green glass lenses and silver wash frames, and they complement the group very well.
A fantastic B2 gunner’s grouping, perfect for display on a mannequin head in your WWII AAF collection.
