  • Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a wonderful opportunity to pick up a complete headgear set up for an Army Air Forces pilot from WWII! The United States Army Air Forces (USAAF or AAF) was the major land-based aerial warfare service component of the United States Army and de facto aerial warfare service branch of the United States during and immediately after World War II (1941–1945). It was created on 20 June 1941 as successor to the previous United States Army Air Corps and is the direct predecessor of the United States Air Force, today one of the six armed forces of the United States. The AAF was a component of the United States Army, which on 2 March 1942 was divided functionally by executive order into three autonomous forces: the Army Ground Forces, the United States Army Services of Supply (which in 1943 became the Army Service Forces), and the Army Air Forces. Each of these forces had a commanding general who reported directly to the Army Chief of Staff.

    This Wonderful Set Consists of:

    - WWII USAAF Summer flight helmet type AN-H-15 made by SLOTE & KLEIN Inc Size LARGE offered in very good condition. There is some wear to the ear cups and overall staining, with a chin strap in excellent condition. It has installed ANB-H-1 headphones with an intact plug, rare to see.
    - WWII USAAF Oxygen Mask Type A-14 in Size Small in original box and bag! Dated May 1945. A bit stiff but good overall.
    - WWII Army Air Forces Polaroid Company M-44 Sun Wind Dust Goggles in original box, great shape overall with spare lenses.
A very good condition U.S. Army Air Force flying helmet set, ready for further research and display.

The AN-H-15 helmet was introduced as the standard summer or light weight for the Army Air Force and Navy on April 23, 1943. It served as the replacement for the Type A-9 flying helmet. It was the first flying helmet designed under the joint Army/Navy procurement program. It is able to interface with various different headphone receivers. The helmet featured improved noise protection ear cups, making it easier for the pilot to hear the headphones.
