Original Item: Only One Available. Adolf H, Tojo and Mussolini were the war’s three most recognized villains. Thousands of ashtrays, dart boards, badges, toys, coloring books, posters, comics and many other homemade items such as this one. Homefront collectibles are starting to become popular again and are surprisingly difficult to find at times.
The ashtray was produced by the Bassons Dummy Products during the war, and depicts a caricature of the German NSDAP leader der Führer Adolf H, mouth wide open and ready to receive your cigarette butts. It looks to be made from clay, and measures 7 1/4"H by 4 1/2"W. The bottom still retains the original label:
THE JACK-AXIS
They’re mostly mouth we all agree
The men we call the Axis Three
Here’s a likeness of their face
Dump your refuse in the proper place
Pat. No. D-134729
Mfg. by BASSONS DUMMY PRODUCTS 5702 48TH STREET, MASPETH, N.Y.C.
There is also a small handwritten note on the tag, which looks to read "1945 war Surrender". There is a repaired chip on the right ear along with overall wear, but otherwise it’s in good shape. It does show staining on the label, and also definitely looks to have been used as an ashtray at some point.
Just the thing for any homefront propaganda collector! Comes ready for further research and display!
