Original U.S. WWII AN6513-1A Parachute Chest Pack without Canopy - Dated 1943

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. The Quick Attachable Chest (QAC) parachutes were widely used by aircrew personnel such as B-17 and B-24 gunners who required a greater amount of freedom of movement in the aircraft. The crewman only needed to wear the lightweight harness/back pad assembly and would later clip on the bulky chest pack containing the parachute if bailing out was required. Between April 1943 and September 1944 the quick attachable chest parachutes accounted for 81% of parachutes used on the B-17’s, B-24’s, and B-26’s. (Official AAF records). This is a very nice example of the AN6513-1A parachute chest pack which is clearly dated January 27, 1943. It bears original markings and stamps. The interior is stuffed for display purposes and does not contain a canopy or riser lines. Red ripcord pull is not attached to a ripcord which is also absent.
