Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely 1941-dated uniform worn by a Flight Officer Glider Pilot serving with the Airborne Troop Carrier. The jacket’s size tag, 37 Regular, also has a set of initials, L.E.R., and the trousers have the name BLACK written on the interior, but we could find no other name with the uniform.
The jacket has an Airborne Troop Carrier patch on the left shoulder, Flight Officer (Warrant Officer) rank insignia on each shoulder, and US & Army Air Corps collar insignia. Over the left breast pocket is a 3-place ribbon bar with the Air Medal with one OLC, the Good Conduct Medal with three stars, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three campaign stars. Over this is a gorgeous set of Sterling Glider pilot wings, with the correct wartime pin-back. The jacket is in great order, and retains its tag in the bottom right pocket, with an October 13th, 1941 contract date by the Jersey Coat Co.
The included trousers are the almost pinkish-colored variant worn by officers during this period, with a Regulation Army Officer uniform tag and a handwritten name, BLACK.
This is a lovely Airborne Troop carrier uniform with some research potential. Comes ready to display.
