  • Original Items. Only One Lot Available. This is a very interesting collection of 24 U.S. Airborne insignia groupings and related pieces, primarily centered on WWII paratrooper and glider units, with several identified postwar examples also included. The assortment contains sterling parachutist wings, distinctive unit insignia, bullion pieces, sweetheart jewelry, shoulder patches, garrison cap insignia, and an unusual period Pepsi-Cola matchbook. Taken together, it makes an excellent instant collection illustrating both official Airborne insignia and the wide range of privately purchased and commemorative pieces associated with airborne troops.

    The items include:
    - Sterling pinback Parachute Wings with period-attached campaign star. Excellent.
    - Sterling butterflypin-back Parachute wings, postwar.
    - Pair of 325th Glider Infantry Regiment “Let’s Go” DI insignia, not matching. Both are pinback but one is marked for NEWCOMBE. Colors are also off.
    - 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment DI, “Fury from the Sky” with enamel. Pinback by NS Meyer.
    - 319th Glider Infantry Regiment DI, “LOYAUTE”, with enamel. Pinback by NS Meyer.
    - Pepsi-Cola matchbook with no matches with 503rd Parachute Battalion insignia, cat with parachute. Neat piece.
    - Very small sweetheart 101st Airborne Division pin.
    - Bullion Paratrooper wings on ovular backing.
    - Bullion Combat Infantryman Badge on rectangular backing.
    - Pair of mini Parachute wing earrings.
    - Mini Parachute wings with screwback.
    - 82nd Airborne glider sweetheart pin with chain-attached mini glider wings, excellent. Marked Sterling by Newcombe.
    - Airborne Command patch with Airborne rocker.
    - 17th Airborne Division patch with detached rocker stitched onto tan backing.
    - 13th Airborne Division patch with rocker, post-war.
    - 11th Airborne Division oval with cloth parachute wings inside.
    - Post-War 9th Airborne Division patch.
    - Post-War 135th Airborne Division patch with detached rocker.
    - WWII U.S. Army Airborne Paratrooper Glider garrison cap badge in blue, early thin variant.
    - WWII U.S. Army Airborne Paratrooper Glider garrison cap badge in blue, later thick variant.
    - WWII U.S. Army Airborne Glider garrison cap badge in white with red border.
    - WWII U.S. Army Airborne Paratrooper Glider garrison cap badge in blue with red border, early thin variant.
    - WWII U.S. Army Airborne Glider garrison cap badge in blue with red border.
    - WWII or later Paraglider garrison cap badge in tan with white border, a variant we have not encountered before.

This is a broad and varied airborne insignia grouping combining WWII, postwar, regulation, privately purchased, sweetheart, bullion, metal, and cloth pieces. Particularly noteworthy are the Sterling parachutist wings with attached star, the Newcombe-marked 82nd sweetheart pin, the 325th, 508th, and 319th unit insignia, the 503rd Parachute Battalion Pepsi-Cola matchbook, and the assortment of early and later garrison cap badges. The explicitly postwar pieces have been retained as such rather than presented as WWII issue, while the 9th and 135th patches provide an interesting connection to the phantom airborne formations created for Allied deception planning.
