Item Description
Original Items: Only One Lot of 2 Available. Worn in the breast pocket of the Paratrooper M2 Jump Jacket, these knives were intended for paratroopers to cut their parachute cords and anything else if they got entangled during a jump. All of the versions are quite rare and hard to find, partly because they continued to be used after the war, and simply wore out.
These are salty, service used examples of the M2 knives. The metal handled pocket knife no longer locks the blade open and both examples are no longer a “switchblade” and need manual assistance to open the blades.
The knives in this lot:
- Early War Issue Jigged Bone: These M2 Paratrooper pockets knives with the early war issue "jigged bone" handles (scales or grip) are among the hardest to find on the market today, especially ones with swivel bale loops. This example does have a piece missing in the handle by the top right rivet close to the button release. The blade is still marked with the following:
PRESTO
PAT PEND’G
G. SCHRADE
BPORT. CT.
- Late War Metal Handle: This knife is a little rougher than the jigged bone handle and does not lock the blade in the open position, so this is not recommended to be used until repaired. The blade is still marked with the following:
PRESTO
MADE IN U.S.A.
GEO. SCHRADE
BRIDGEPORT
CONN.
Both knives come ready to be displayed!
