  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. The Bronze Star Medal is a United States Armed Forces decoration awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces for either heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone. When the medal is awarded by the Army, Air Force, or Space Force for acts of valor in combat, the "V" device is authorized for wear on the medal. When the medal is awarded by the Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard for acts of valor or meritorious service in combat, the Combat "V" is authorized for wear on the medal.

This is a great engraved Bronze Star Medal identified to Sergeant Ray V. Wilcox of the Army Air Forces. We couldn’t find much information on his service, making for a good research project.

Sergeant Ray V. Wilcox entered the service on December 8th, 1943 and went overseas on March 30th, 1945. He saw action in Germany and on June 16th, 1945 was sent directly to the Philippines and then on to Japan. He returned to the United States on February 8th, 1946 and was discharged.

The set comes with the Engraved Bronze Star medal in its original presentation case with ribbon and lapel pin. There is a small page with information from Wilcox’s enlistment record.

Ready for further research and display.
