Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Group. This is the ordnance watch and dog tag grouping of Hugh G. Ingram of the Army Air Forces. Ingram enlisted on April 17th, 1943, but we can’t find very much information on his service. The group includes a set of Sterling Aerial Gunner Wings which are etched on the rear with ELLIS 15126468, identifying them to another member of the AAF, Ray C Ellis. We aren’t sure if they served together, but there is more research to be done.
The ordnance watch is not marked by a maker, but still runs as far as we can tell, however we can not guarantee that it will keep good time and not stop occasionally. It has what appears to be the original band, and it is stamped on the back:
ORD DEPT.
U.S.A.
OG-12232
The other items include:
- Ingram’s dog tag with serial number 34730779 and his mother or wife’s information. He was from Athens, Tennessee.
- 8th Air Force patch, heavy damage and fading.
- Communications Specialist cuff patch.
- Sterling pinback Aerial Gunner wings engraved ELLIS 15126468, identifying them to another member of the AAF, Ray C Ellis.
- Ruptured Duck discharge patch, damage.
- Roosevelt Letter to Army Expeditionary Forces members with original envelope. Good shape.
- Photo of two aviators sitting on an aircraft wing and propeller.
- US & AAF collar discs, oxidized.
- European African Middle Eastern Campaign ribbon with one star.
