Original Item. One-of-a-Kind Set. This is an outstanding group of items having belonged to Private Edmund D. McIntosh, 978th Field Artillery Battalion, 119th Field Artillery Group, U.S. Army. The group includes the two pieces of shrapnel which were removed from McIntosh’s wound, the original Western Union telegram sent to his family notifying them of his wound, his dog tag, ribbon bar, and more.
The group includes:
- Two small pieces of shrapnel which were removed from his wounds, inflicted near St. Lo, France on June 26th, 1944. Attached is a photo of him in old age.
- His dog tag, serial number 35590355.
- His watch, likely post war, with tape repairs.
- Western Union Telegram dated August 14th, 1944, notifying Mrs. Edith Serafy, his mother, about his severe wounding.
- Small life history denoting his jobs, army service, etc.
- Unengraved Purple Heart Medal.
- 3-place ribbon bar with Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, and European African Middle Eastern Campaign ribbon with 2 stars.
- US & FA Collar discs, 2 Army Qualification ladder badges with one detached rifle bar.
- Uniform removed overseas stripe or British wound stripe.
- Small religious pendant.
