Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Group. This is a lovely group of items belonging to Technician 4th Grade John A. Ritter, who served with the 94th Infantry Division during World War II. The group includes some great ephemera, including the Western Union telegrams alerting his wife that he was reported as Missing in Action, and another from 2 months later retracting the previous report.
The group includes:
- Pair of 94th ID painted souvenir clogs reading BRETAGNE.
- 50+ photographs from his service and civilian life, loose.
- Many letters and other bits of ephemera.
- Garrison cap with Infantry piping and 94th ID enamel pin. R-5280 laundry number marked inside.
- Japanese made purse bag with newspaper clippings and photos inside.
- Folder with his discharge certificate, 94th ID patch and booklet, and photo of him with patch and CIB.
- Research pages with his ribbons pinned on showing the medal’s descriptions.
- Two Western Union telegrams, one alerting his wife that he was reported as Missing in Action, and another from 2 months later retracting the previous report.
