  • Original Items. One-of-a-Kind group. This is the extensive grouping of Private First Class George L. Morris, Battery B, 773rd Field Artillery Battalion, who saw action in five campaigns throughout the war. The group consists of his plain ike jacket uniform, a “Service Record” Wallet with his medals, dog tags, and more, several scrapbooks, framed photos, and a great deal of ephemera.

    The group includes:
    - Two large scrapbooks put together on the home front with countless newspaper clippings, some small bits of ephemera he sent home during the war, with captured photos including some (reprinted) photos of AH and other Germans. Some captured German money and other bits, but the majority of these two are newspaper clippings. One interesting bit is the original capture paperwork for five items Morris brought home including “1 Sheep skin coat, 1 fur jacket, 1 knife enemy bayonet, 1 novelty glass ball, and 1 leather belt”. There is also a parachute flare attached to the last page.
    - Medium size photo album with 75+ photos of Germany, soldiers holding German flag, German sights, locals, candid shots, men with tanks, men posing for silly photos, and a lot more.
    - Two Small size photo albums filled with photos from Germany including many German soldiers and civilians, Americans, German towns and countryside, German POWs. Likely 200 photos between both albums.
    - Morris’ “Service Record” wallet with his dog tags on their chain, three patches, various small patches, a captured German medal, his ribbons including two European African Middle Eastern Campaign ribbons with five campaign stars, and his Verdun medal. There is also a photo of him in front of a German sign.
    - Various captured shell casings in a bag.
    - Framed Army discharge showing his unit and serial number, which matches the number on his dog tags.
    - Morris’ Ike jacket with two overseas stripes on the cuff and US & Field Artillery collar discs. Named to Morris on interior. Size 36R.
    - Framed portrait of Morris in uniform, colorized. 10 ½ x 12 ½”.
    - Fort Brag and Hawaiian Islands pillowcases.
    - 3 x 5 Foot 48 Star flag by Bulldog Bunting.
    - Morris’ pay record cards, several 773rd FAB booklets and histories, two captured German books, and a great deal of other ephemera.
    - Small envelope with 40+ photos of sight seeing, comrades, etc.

This is a really terrific and extensive grouping that you’ll spend hours looking through fully! An outstanding group to a grizzled combat veteran, ready for further research and display!
