  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a captured German Stereoskop, a 3D image viewer which was used to train soldiers in reviewing aerial reconnaissance photographs. The set was manufactured by Oculus, and was captured during World War II by Private First Class Robert D. Moore, Company M, 290th Infantry Regiment, 75th Infantry Division.

The case contains the Stereoskop, numbered 535, and the case itself is numbered 534 on the lid, likely switched on accident at the factory. The case has 8 original slides for viewing, and a mounting device. One of the 8 slides is broken on one end.

The top of the lid has a mail-home label:

    FROM: Pfc. Robert D. Moore
    Co. “M” 290th Infantry.
    APO 451 Postmaster,
    New York, New York.

    TO: Mrs. Hiram Moore
    Glamorgan,
    Virginia.

Above this is a great capture paper, signed by his commanding officer. The case measures roughly 12 x 10 x 6” and is in good overall shape. This is a fantastic captured set, ready for further research and display.
