  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a great February 1944 health poster warning soldiers overseas of the consequences of venereal disease. The poster features a young American girl pleading with her soldier boy, “PLEASE come back.. CLEAN”. At the end of the war, the risk to soldiers became even greater, because any soldier with VD could not be sent home until they were cured, so, if they caught VD, they risked having to make very embarrassing explanations to their families, girlfriends, or wives, saying exactly why they could not be sent home along with the other men!

The poster has fold markings as shown and is marked along the bottom: V.D. POSTER #3 FIFTH ARMY on one end, and on the other end:

PHOTOLITHOGRAPHED BY 66TH ENGR. TOP. CO. U.S ARMY, FEBRUARY 1944
REPRINTED BY AAF ENGINEER COMMAND MTO (PROV)

This means the poster was printed and hung overseas in the European Theater of Operations. What a great detail! There are holes and markings in all four corners from being hung during the period.

The poster measures roughly 15 ⅛ x 20” and is in great overall shape. A great candidate for framing.

    Ready for display.
