Original U.S. WWII 48 Star Dyed Silk National Flag - 27" x 50"

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice WWII Era Star American Flag, in a nice medium size of 27" x 50" size, about 2.25 x 4/17 feet. Unlike most that we have seen, this flag is is a single piece of silk, which has had the United States 48 Star flag dyed onto it. This is not something that we have really seen before. The general rule of thumb is that cotton flags were issued during WWII and nylon flags were issued during the Korean War. Silk however is not usually seen, but we believe it to be WWII Issue.
The flag is in very good condition, with just minor staining and age toning. From the looks of the upper and lower edges of the flag, it was folded over and sewn to something for quite some time. The very edges are quite clean, so it was removed and then put into storage.
