Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Group. This is a lovely group belonging to Sergeant Harry T. Roberts of the 436th Troop Carrier Group. This was a C-47 Skytrain transport unit assigned to Ninth Air Force in Western Europe. The group earned the Distinguished Unit Citation for its first missions 6–7 June, the Normandy Invasion. On subsequent missions the 436th dropped troops and supplies and inserted gliders into Southern France and the Netherlands. In March 1945, the unit was a part of the Allied push across the Rhine and into Germany's heartland. Following the war, the 436th evacuated patients and prisoners of war until it was inactivated in November 1945.
The group includes:
- Roberts’ dog tags with very heavy wear and his next of kin in Woodbury, New Jersey.
- Patch showing a soldier riding a bald eagle. Purportedly for the 436th Troop Carrier Group.
- 9th air force patch.
- Airborne Troop Carrier patch with separate black Airborne rocker.
- Sergeant Stripes, pair.

- Five overseas stripes.
- Aviation belt buckle.
- Pair of 436th Troop Carrier DI. GEMSCo.

We were able to find a newspaper photograph of Roberts from 1943 when he was a Corporal. He is mentioned as having been in the group awarded the Distinguished Unit Citation for its first missions 6–7 June, the Normandy Invasion.
