Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. "Sally" (Serial 42-26393) was a P-47D-25-RA Thunderbolt flown by Capt. Thomas Montag of the 395th Fighter Squadron, 368th Fighter Group, during World War II. While strafing a convoy of German trucks and light armor in Normandy on August 14th, 1944, “Sally” clipped trees at low altitude and crashed into the forest. In 2011, the crash site was rediscovered and partially excavated. This fragment was recovered.
This is a fantastic fragment of "Sally" (Serial 42-26393) attached to a frame with the aircraft’s history, Copyrighted and signed by Ron Cole in 2017. This is a limited edition run, numbered 14/20
The frame measures 8 ⅞ x 11 ⅜” and the piece is attached to the front of the frame, not inside of it.
