Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. The 38th Infantry Division is an infantry division of the United States Army and part of the Indiana National Guard. It is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, and contains Army National Guard units from across the Midwest. Formed in 1917, the division's special designation "Cyclone" refers to when the division's training camp at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, was damaged by a tornado. It is also nicknamed "Avengers of Bataan" due to its efforts during the Pacific War in World War II.
This is a fantastic custom-carved plaque for the 38th Infantry Division, the “Avengers of Bataan”. The plaque is inscribed PHILIPPINES / 1945 / AVENGERS OF BATAAN / 38TH DIV. The background shows the Philippines with palm trees, a great scene. The depth is also well-done.
The plaque measures roughly 7 x 9” and has a ring on the back for mounting. A fantastic likely theater-made piece.
