Item Description
Original Item: This is a 1944 KA-Bar USN (U.S. Navy) marked fighting knife with USMC style leather scabbard. The markings on the hand guard are as follows:
KA-BAR
and on the opposite side:
USN
MK2
The USN and MK2 have been stamped out to conceal which was not uncommon for a member of the USMC.
In 1944, the US Navy put through a change order to have the markings moved from the blade to the cross guard, so this knife was produced just after that change. Knife features original leather washer grip, about 50% of the original blade bluing, and heavy steel pommel with flat tang. The blade does have some areas of light corrosion, and has also been sharpened. The scabbard is in good condition with great leather color, and complete securing strap with functional broken.
The most interesting aspect is the reverse of the scabbard which was scored and reads:
A nice example of an genuine USN KA-BAR knife, with a persnalization dating to December 1945.
