Original Item: Only One Available. In the face of acute wartime labor shortages, women were needed in the defense industries, the civilian service, and even the Armed Forces. Despite the continuing 20th century trend of women entering the workforce, publicity campaigns were aimed at those women who had never before held jobs. Poster and film images glorified and glamorized the roles of working women and suggested that a woman's femininity need not be sacrificed. Whether fulfilling their duty in the home, factory, office, or military, women were portrayed as attractive, confident, and resolved to do their part to win the war.

This is a lovely World War Two American color poster that reads:

The bottom of the poster has information about further inquiry into becoming a Cadet Nurse, offering a Lifetime Education FREE! FOR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES WHO QUALIFY. The poster was put together by the U.S. Public Health Service in conjunction with the Federal Security Agency. Printed at the bottom is "U.S. Government Printing Office: 1944-O-599074 Distributed by OWI"

The poster measures 20 x 28” and has heavy fold-marks which have created tears along the creases in several places. This is a fragile example that should be framed for display as soon as possible!
