  • Original Item: Only One Available. This 28" x 22" World War Two War Bonds poster was designed in 1942 by the Artist George Schreiber (1904-1977) and printed in 1943 by the U. S. Government Printing Office with designation number 1943-O-507063. It reads:

    Keep him flying!
    Buy War Bonds

Born in Brussles, Belgium, George Schreiber traveled and studied extensively until finally arriving in the United States in 1928. Schreiber had two passions- first being an American citizen and second informing people of the war-torn horrors he had witnessed in Europe. He traveled extensively to all 48 states, everywhere displaying his paintings, lithographs and illustrations from his homeland. During World War II, the United States Navy commissioned Schreiber to create paintings to use as posters. He was often criticized by fellow artists for this career move. But Schreiber saw it as an opportunity to bring his art to great numbers of people, spreading important messages.

An unrestored totally original poster with a very clean overall appearance. It has minor signs of use, such as slight edge and fold wear, a few edges where tape appears to have been applied and minor creases. The Poster has been folded, as it was originally for mailing to various government locations around the country. Offered in very condition with full color retention. Unframed.
