Original Item: Only One Available. This is a beautiful example of the rare WWII Vehicle Scabbard for the U.S. M1 Carbine that is in a remarkable state of preservation. It is U.S. marked, manufactured by Schell Leather Goods Company, Inc. and dated 1943. The scabbard appears to have never been lightly used, the leather is still light tan throughout and the deep black finish is still present on all metal parts. The inside of the charging handle sleeve exhibits no scrapes or wear from having a carbine slide in and out of the scabbard! There are initials “J.D.J.” stamped into the inner portion of the scabbard, which may be an inspectors stamp.
This example shows some expected light wear to the exterior of the leather, as expected after decades in storage, The original securing straps are still intact and unbroken, and are complete with the original snap hooks.
These were used to attached to jeeps, motorcycles, horses and other transportation equipment. M1 carbine versions are exceptionally hard to find.
