Item Description
Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This is a fantastic handmade model of a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress that is dated on the underside 1943. It is constructed of wood and measures: wingspan 17 1/2", fuselage lenght 13", height from base 8". It appears to have some sort of coating over the wood like a resin or paper mache type material but is quite durable. it is hand painted in brown camouflage with small nails for guns and painted windows. its mounted on a wood base with a brass V25 insignia. This indicates that it was made earlier in the war as 25 successful missions on a heavy bomber meant you could go home. The underside of the plane is marked in black paint with the owners initials and the date; SR 1943. Underneath the base it is stenciled in black paint ARMY AIR indicating that this piece of lumber may have come from a USAAF marked transport crate. Overall condition is very good, with some signs of age.
