Original Item: Only One Available. This is an original trench periscope from World War I, which was a life saving essential during trench warfare. It remains in good original condition, with most of its olive drab green paint still intact. The periscope includes its original adjustable leg and belt clip.
The periscope utilizes two opposing glass mirrors, one on top and one on the bottom, held in a wooden case that is secured together by twisted wire. Although it features a fairly crude design, it was an effective and inexpensive tool to mass produce at the time.
The periscope is in very good condition, with the mirrors in great shape but a little dirty. There is some wear and chipping to the wooden housing, which is expected for an item of this age. It measures just over 14 inches in length.
This is a rare and genuine example from the Great War that is ready to be displayed or even used.
