Item Description
Original Item. Only One Available. This is a great example of a U.S. made overseas cap with an EGA (Eagle, Globe, Anchor) insignia affixed to the left side, denoting issue to a U.S. Marine, who served in France from 1917-1919. The cap has a size and date sticker on the interior, Size 7 ¼ with a contract date of August 21st, 1918.
There is a period-correct EGA insignia at the front of the cap, with both latitude and longitude lines on the globe, signifying it as WWI era. Looking behind the flap shows there is a metal washer behind the insignia, which was often done by soldiers. There isn’t any serious damage to the cap, only a small bit of moth tracking.
This is a fantastic example of a USMC utilized overseas cap. Anything to the Marine Corps during this period is fiercely sought after. This cap comes ready for further research and display.
