Item Description
Original Item. Only One Available. This is a great example of a French-made overseas cap for a soldier of the U.S. Marine Corps. This example has a leather sweatband and an EGA (Eagle, Globe, Anchor) insignia affixed to the front.
The cap measures roughly 7⅜. There is a period-correct EGA insignia at the front of the cap, with both latitude and longitude lines on the globe, signifying it as WWI era. There is a name written under the sweatband, F.S. Reed, but this didn’t turn up any results, so it’s likely a reissued or reused cap. There are scattered moth hole across the cap but is in otherwise great shape.
This is a fantastic example of a USMC utilized overseas cap manufactured in France. Anything to the Marine Corps during this period is fiercely sought after. This cap comes ready for further research and display.
