Original Item: Only One Available. The Great War saw tens of thousands of U.S. women join the war effort in various capacities. Though not permitted to join combat units, they were welcome in the many military and volunteer organizations that handled logistics and supply lines in the United States and Abroad. One of these organizations was the U.S. Army Transportation Corps, which as the name implies, was responsible for transporting personnel and materiel.
This is a very nice U.S. WWI Female Driver's Side Cap from the U.S. Army Transportation Corps, and has the "Winged Wheel" insignia on one side. It has the correct U.S. Army buttons on the front, and is lined with red cotton, which has now faded to an orange color. Size is quite small, probably a U.S. 6 3/4 (54cm) or less.
