Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a beautiful M1910 Mess Kit which was decorated by the soldier who took it overseas. The lid of the kid is decorated with a checkered pattern background with floral motifs and battles he partook in around the rim, including CHATEAU-THIERRY, ST. MIHIEL, and ARGONNE FOREST. The bowl of the mess kit is decorated around the edge with what was likely to be further work on the bottom, but it was never finished.
The bottom is engraved with the initials W.L.R.. The mess kit retains the fork, knife, and spoon, with the knife being stamped with the name GEO. E. SHRINER. The spoon has a tag attached naming it to Raymond E. Miller, a soldier who never made it overseas. A very strange group of reissued mess kit pieces.
The mess kit itself is dated 1917 by T.U.S.A. Co.. A great set, ready for further research and display.
