  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a genuine and incredibly scarce U.S. Navy Boat Clock, manufactured by the Chelsea Clock Co. of Boston, Mass. It is mounted in a heavy brass case attached to a wooden base, and has a 3 1/2" black dial. It features hour and minute hands on the main dial, with a smaller dial for the seconds. The clock is non-working as far as we can tell, but the glass crystal in front of the dial is still retained.

The front of the clock has the hole for winding with the key, which is included! We wound it, but it only would allow winding for half of a turn, and the seconds hand did work for about 20 seconds, but then stopped. This clock requires some work.

    The face reads as follows:

    CHELSEA CLOCK CO.    BOSTON, U.S.A.
    U.S. NAVY
    BOAT CLOCK
    NO. 5191

The brass face unscrews so that the clock can be wound. The clock is screwed with three screws to the wooden base, which itself has three holes for attachment to a boat.

The outer housing measures 4⅝”, while the base diameter of the wooden base measures 6”.

A lovely boat clock, the first from World War I we have offered. Ready to restore and display!
