Original Item. Only One Available. This tremendous pistol belt rig is named to Captain Dudley C. Smith, Commander of Company F, 815th Pioneer Infantry Regiment. The rig includes the M1910 Pistol Belt, M1911 Magazine Pouch with two original two-tone magazines, and a first aid bandage pouch with an original December 1917 contract bandage.
All three canvas pieces are marked CAPT. D. C. SMITH. After some research, the only Captain on the A.E.F. transportation rosters that matched the initials was Dudley C. Smith. The M1911 pouch is a Mills example, dated June 1918. One of the snaps has unfortunately broken off, but is still stuck in the enclosure, so it displays exactly the same. The two-tone magazines are WWI production and are in great shape. The bandage pouch is marked RIA 1917. The bandage is in great unopened condition, and has a contract date of December 10th, 1917. The set is in fantastic condition overall, with very few flaws.
The 815th Pioneer Infantry traveled overseas on October 11th, 1918, a month before the war had ended. Smith was transferred to the Service of Supply or SOS Headquarters, and returned to the United States on July 19th, 1919. Smith lived in Princeton, New Jersey.
This is a great pistol rig set identified to a Captain that spent several months overseas. Ready for further research and display!
