  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a gorgeous engraved U.S. M1910 canteen cup named and engraved to Sergeant Jesse B. Clark, Service Park Unit 316, Motor Transport Corps. Clark was from Chicago, Illinois, and served for 14 months in France.

The canteen cup is entirely covered in Clark’s travel diary, and on the side he engraved the Gaalic Rooster with U.S.A.A.S. under it, for the United States Army Ambulance Service. Clark likely spent time serving with an Ambulance unit while in France. The different locations engraved include AIX-LES-BAINS, CHAUMONT H.Q., N.N.VA, FERRIERE, REIMS, LAON, LYONS, AULNOIS, VERSAILLES, EPERNAY, BELLFORT, BEAUVAIS, LE MANS, BRESLES, LA FERTE MILON, CHALONS S/MARNE, ST. NAZAIRE, ANGERS SEMILLY, MANTE, BREST, PARIS, AGONY, MADAWASKA, DEC. 15 1917. The handle of the cup is stamped 316-.5. For his unit, SPU 316.

This is a tremendous canteen cup that requires a great deal more research. Clark’s entire travel history during WWI is engraved onto this cup, a fantastic piece with a great amount of character. Comes ready for further research and display!
